🇫🇷 Marie Crevet & Robert Caron: The Pioneer and the Indentured Tradesman
This document details the lives and families of Marie Crevet, one of the earliest female settlers known as a Fille à Marier, and her first husband, Robert Caron, key figures in the foundation of Nouvelle-France.

Land and Settlement
Robert Caron was an active settler and landholder in the Beaupré region:
- Initial Settlement (1637): Settled near the Montmorency Falls on land granted by Pierre LeGardeur de Repentigny.
- Land Sales: Sold his Beaupré land to Guillaume Couillard in 1642.
- Coteau Sainte-Geneviève: Was clearing land here by 1643. Received a 40-arpent concession in 1649, with Governor D’Ailleboust adding 20 arpents in 1651.
- Beaupré Coast (1654): Sold his Coteau Sainte-Geneviève property and settled on the Beaupré coast, about a mile from the present-day Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré.
Widowhood (1656–1666)
Following Robert Caron's death in 1656, Marie moved to Château-Richer and managed her finances for ten years, as evidenced by multiple notarial records:
- Financial Acts (1656–1659): Obligations and receipts involving Robert Drouin, Julien Fortin, and Geneviève Gamache. [12], [13], [14]
- Iroquois Incursions (1661): Marie and other families on the Beaupré coast were noted as being ruined by Iroquois attacks. [15]

Children of Noël Langlois and Françoise Garnier/Grenier (10 Children)
Marie Crevet became the stepmother to Noël Langlois's large family from his first marriage, including several individuals who married into prominent families:

- Elizabeth-Isabelle Langlois (1645–1696) → Married Louis Côté (1662), later Guillaume Lemieux (1669).
- Marie Langlois (1646–1687) → Married François Miville-dit-LeSuisse (1660).
- Jean Langlois-dit-St.Jean (1648–1690)
- Noël Langlois-dit-Traversy (1651–1693) → Married Aimée Caron (Marie Crevet's daughter, c. 1672).
Legacy
The seven Caron children left a substantial legacy, resulting in more than forty descendants. The daughters married into families with widespread names such as Lessard, Paré, Bolduc, Bernier, and Simard. The four Caron sons (Jean-Baptiste, Robert, Joseph, and Pierre) had twelve sons who married, continuing the Caron name primarily in the Beaupré and Cap-Saint-Ignace regions. [22]
